ORIGIN: Found in Great Britain, Norway, Sweden, Finland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Czechoslovakia, Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, Italy, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Western russia, Central Russia, Eastern Russia, western Siberia, eastern Siberia, Kazakistan, Mongolia, China, Korea, Japan, Pakistan, western Himalayas, Nepal, Sikkim and the eastern Himalayas in dune slacks, fens in plains, short grasslands and marshes in hills and mountains at elevations to to 2400 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Miniature sized, cold to cool growing terrestrial orchid with an ellipsoid to globose tuber giving rise to an erect stem with linear-lanceolate, acuminate bracts and carrying on the lower half, 2 to 3, closely set, oblong-lanceolate, acute leaves that blooms on an erect, terminal, racemose, to 8 [20 cm] long, several to many flowered inflorescence with fragrant [musk] flowers all facing in the same direction and occurring in the spring and summer.
