Re-inventing an orchidarium.. your thoughts

Curiosity

by Kjell Meershoek

Hi all,
I am Kjell and new to this forum. I have had terrariums for over 20 years now and am in general fond of ecosystems. Five years ago I started developing a terrarium, but then less depth so I could hang it on a wall. And with an open front (no glass panel). Nerd as I am, I also wanted it to be fully automated and it should give me the ability to imitate nearly any ecosystem in the world.

In the beginning of 2025 I had the first fully working prototype - and now I am about to release them as products. I would love to make developing these products and creating naturalistic ecosystems my full-time job. And this is where I would love your input.

prototype from January 2025

I am now able to produce my self designed open terrariums, including automation. I expect to launch in March. This would entail:
- glass (white or black) open terrarium of 120x80x13cm
- integrated light (led), misting, rain and filter
- water compartment (integrated) of 15 liter
- automation device including mobile app connection
- all running on 24v and integrated in the glass system.

In development is a cooling device.
2 questions to you:
1. Does this suffice in terms of requirements and possibilities it would give you or is there something missing?
2. I need to ask at least 2000€ for the full set (still excluding plants and a background). Is this acceptable for you?

I will attach some more photos to this post for clarity :)

btw, for the nerds amongst us - i am now able to hook it up with bluetooth sensors and connect it realtime to any weather station in the world ^^ Currently based on a shelly infrastructure with custom scripts, but i am currently producing my own hardware with a lot more functionalities (coming in march).

Looking forward to hear your thoughts :) :) thanks a lot in advance!!
Kind regards,
kjell
