ORIGIN: Found in Santander and Norte de Santander Colombia and Venezuela in cloud forests altitudes of 1800 to 3200 meters often in full sun.

DESCRIPTION: Small sized, cold to cool growing, caespitose epiphytic or lithophytic species with stout erect ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths carrying a single, apical, erect, thickly coriaceous, elliptical, obtuse, tridentate apically leaf that is narrowed below into a petiolate base, blooming in the spring and early summer with an erect, 10 to 15 [25 to 37.5 cm] long, simultaneously 4 to 7 flowered, purple dotted, triquetrous, racemose inflorescence arising from near the base of the ramicaul with 2 to 3 distinct bracts and imbricating floral bracts holding the flowers at or above leaf height.
