ORIGIN: Found in western Himalayas, lower India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Assam, eastern Himalayas, Nepal, Bhutan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan and Yunnan provinces of China, Andaman Islands, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Borneo, Java, Lesser Sunda Islands, Moluccas, the Philippines, Sulawesi, Sumatra, New Guinea, Northern Territories and Queensland Australia, Taiwan and New Caledonia at elevations of 50 to 1800 meters in lowlands, grasslands and in dry rice fields.

DESCRIPTION: Medium to large sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial with underground tubers giving rise to narrowly linear, longitudinally folded leaves that blooms in the winter and spring without leaves on a direct from the tubers, often more than one per, 26 to 32 [40 to 80 cm] long, 10 to 20 flowered inflorescence with many lanceolate, acute sheaths and linear, acute floral bracts.
