ORIGIN: Found in Ecuador and Peru in moss on rocks at elevations of 2600 to 4100 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Small to large sized, cold growing terrestrial or lithophyte with a [when present] solitary or rarely 2, basal, oblong-elliptic, acute to subacute, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the later summer on a terminal, glabrous to sparingly glandular-tomentose, to 5.6 [14 cm] long, laxly to subdensely to 20 flowered inflorescence with several clasping, distant sheaths and has ovate to lanceolate-ovate, glandular-pubescent, usually shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
