ORIGIN: Found in Benin, Burkino Faso, Chad, Senegal, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Sierra Leone, Togo, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Liberia, Equatorial Guinea, Gulf of Guinea Islands, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Burundi, Congo, Zaire, Uganda, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Malawi, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Natal, Transvaal South Africa, Madagascar, Comoros, Mauritius, Reunion, Yemen and Oman in thickets, deciduous forests, coastal and highland forests at elevations up to 1500 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Small sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with a very large, erect, heart-shaped leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, elongate several flowered inflorescence.
