ORIGIN: This erect, medium sized, cool to warm growing, terrestrial species with 5 to 7, oblong-ligulate, coriaceous, suberect or spreading, rounded at the apex, clear green leaves is found in southern India at elevations of 1000 to 2000 meters.

DESCRIPTION: This erect, medium sized, cool to warm growing, terrestrial species with 5 to 7, oblong-ligulate, coriaceous, suberect or spreading, rounded at the apex, clear green leaves is found in southern India at elevations of 1000 to 2000 meters and is likely extinct in the wild where it was found in open exposed grasslands in rock crevasses, but in cultivation it blooms in late spring and summer with a single flower on an erect, terminal, to 12 [30 cm] long, pubescent, purple, terete inflorescence that is subtended by a green sheath and pale green, pubescent floral bract.
