ORIGIN: Found in Portugal, Spain and France in damp meadows, moist woods and flushed slopes on acidic substrates at elevations of 600 to 1400 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Medium to large sized, cold growing terrestrial with a thicker stem carrying 5 to 9, near erect to spreading leaves with the uppermost 2 to 4 bract-like that blooms in the later spring and early summer an a terminal, erect, 2 to 6 [5 to 15 cm] long, racemose, cylindrical, 30 to 70 flowered inflorescence with leaf-like bracts that are longer than the lower many flowers.
