ORIGIN: Found from Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru as a large sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte at elevations of 300 to 1000 meters in very wet lowland forests.

DESCRIPTION: A large sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte at elevations of 300 to 1000 meters in very wet lowland forests with clustered, ovoid to ovoid oblong, slightly compressed, grooved, light yellow brown pseudobulbs carrying 2 to 4, narrowly elliptic-lanceolate, acute, apical, plicate, basally clasping leaves and blooms on a pendulous, 20 to 3'4 [50 to 100 cm] long, many [20 to 50] flowered, red-green inflorescence with narrowly elliptic, inflated, acute bracts and crowded, sweetly scented flowers occurring in the summer. This orchid needs to be put in a basket or mounted on wood to accomodate the long, pendant inflorescence.
