ORIGIN: Found in Afghanistan, Taiwan, Assam, Bangladesh, eastern Himalayas, India, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Borneo, Java, Malaysia, Philippines, Sumatra, Northwest Territory and Queensland Australia, Niue and Vanuatu at elevations of sea level to 450 meters on shady slopes and grassland borders and under bamboo thickets.

DESCRIPTION: Small sized, hot growing mycoheterotrophic terrestrial with an underground horizontal, fleshy rhizome that gives rise to an erect, to 8 [20 cm] long, light brown, successively 1 to 2, many flowered inflorescence carrying wide open flowers occurring in the spring.
