ORIGIN: Found in western Sichuan and northwest Yunnan provinces of China in thickets and crevices on rocky slopes at elevations of 2000 to 3800 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Mini-miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial with ellipsoid tubers with a few slender lobes giving rise to an erect, stout stem with 2 to 3 tubular, basal sheaths and carrying 3 to 5, cauline, clustered, rarely widely spaced, elliptic-oblong, acute leaves that blooms in the late spring and early summer on an erect, stout, 1.6 to 10.4 [4 to 26 cm] long, densely to laxly many flowered inflorescence with 1 to 2, lanceolate bracts and lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, much longer than the ovary, acuminate floral bracts.
