Orchid Species: Encyclia bractescens

Encyclia bractescens is an orchid species identified by (Lindl.) Hoehne in 1952.

ORIGIN: Found in Mexico, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala in humid forests at elevations up to 1200 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Miniature to small sized, hot to cool-growing epiphytic species with clustered, conical to ovoid-conical, slightly rugose pseudobulbs carrying 2 apical, ligulate to linear-lanceolate, lustrous leaves that blooms in the late winter and spring on an apical, short to 15 [up to 37.5 cm], simple or few branched inflorescence with 2 to 12, fragrant, long-lived flowers.
