Orchid Species: Bulbophyllum occlusum

Bulbophyllum occlusum is an orchid species identified by Ridl. in 1885.
ORIGIN: Found in Madagascar in humid, mossy evergreen forests at elevations of 600 to 2000 meters on dead trees.
DESCRIPTION: Large sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte requiring shade and high humidity and have close-set, orbicular to widely oval, compressed pseudobulbs carrying 2 to 3 oblanceolate, persistent leaves that blooms on a 12 to 16 [30 to 40 cm] long, sheathed, inflorescence that carries many [20] large, colorful flowers enveloped by light colored floral bracts occurring in the spring and summer in nature. Best grown on a treefern mount or cork slabs with sphagnun pads, given regular waterings, high humidity and light shade.
