ORIGIN: Found from Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru as a small sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte in cloud forests at elevations of 400 to 2400 meters.

DESCRIPTION: A small sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte in cloud forests at elevations of 400 to 2400 meters with widely spaced groups of small plantlets arising on the terete, smooth, green rhizome, branching and rebranching to form tangled mats or long twining, vine-like plants giving rise to suborbicular-oblong, compressed pseudobulbs enveloped basally by 1 or 2 leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying a single, apical, fleshy, suberect, oblong, obtuse leaf that blooms at most any time of the year on a single flowered, dull purple, 4 [10 cm] long, inflorescence arising on mature pseudobulbs from the leaf sheaths and directly from the rootlike rhizome.
