ORIGIN: Found in southern Colombia, northern Ecuador and Peru in open, wet cloud forests in scrub at elevations of 2800 to 3200 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Large sized, cold growing terrestrial or epiphyte with a small pseudobulb enveloped completely by imbricating leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, narrowly elliptic, acute, gradually narrowing below into the narrow, conduplicate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on an axillary, 13.5 [34 cm] long, loosely several flowered inflorescence with 5 [12.5 cm] long, 2 flowered branches towards the bottom and is racemose towards the top and having prominent, ovate, concave, floral bracts.
