ORIGIN: Found in Colombia and Peru in cloud forests at elevations of 1600 to 2000 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Small sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with erect ramicauls enveloped by 2 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on 1 to 2, erect, slightly fractiflex, distichous, loose, 3.6 to 5.2 [9 to 13 cm] long including the .68 to 1 [1.7 to 2.5 cm] long peduncle, mostly simultaneously many flowered inflorescence arising through a spathe with cucullate, acuminate red floral bracts.
