ORIGIN: Found in Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Ecuador in wet montane forests at elevations of 400 to 2500 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Giant sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial on steep embankments with cane-like,stems enveloped by distant, loose, tubular, densely red, pubescent sheaths and carrying, plicate, thin, ovate to ovate-lanceolate, acute to abruptly subacuminate, densely dark pilose beneath, sessile, basally clasping leaves that can bloom at any time of the year on a terminal, sessile, single flowered inflorescence.
