ORIGIN: Found in central and southwestern Mexico on rocky hills and grassy openings in pine/oak forests at elevations of 1900 to 2100 meters.

DESCRIPTION: An erect, leafless at flowering, medium to large sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial orchid with an erect stem and then a 10 to 12, imbricate, pale brown to white, very thin, almost translucent, papery, sheathing bracts and then an inflorescence that is to 6 [15 cm] long carries 20 to 30 flowers held in several ranks and has glabrous, lanceolate, attenuate or narrowly acuminate floral bracts through which the narrow fragrant flowers protrude in the late winter and early spring.
