Orchid Species: Sauroglossum aurantiacum

Sauroglossum aurantiacum is an orchid species identified by (C.Schweinf.) Garay in 1978.
ORIGIN: Found in Peru at elevations of 2800 to 3150 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small to large sized, cold growing terrestrial with 5 or less, basal, rosulate, oblong to elliptic, more or less acute, gradually narrowing below into a more or less distinct petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, slender to stout, more or less glandular-tomentose, to 28 [70 cm] long overall, short to elongate, rachis 1.2 to 10 [3 to 25 cm] long, several to many flowered inflorescence enveloped by several more or less remote, tubular sheaths.
