ORIGIN: Found in the Assam India, eastern Himalayas, Bhutan, Myanmar, northern Thailand and China at elevations of 900 to 2400 meters on trees and rocks in evergreen montane forests.

DESCRIPTION: Large sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte, lithophyte or occasional terrestrial on humus, moss or rotting wood with elongate-ellipsoid, stem-like pseudobulbs carrying 6 to 17, distichous, ligulate, arched, tapering, unequally bilobed apically leaves which blooms in the fall and winter on an axillary, suberect, few to several [2 to 15] flowered, sheathed, 10 to 12 [25 to 30 cm] long inflorescence carrying close set, fragrant [almonds] flowers.
