ORIGIN: Found in Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia and Peru at elevations around 2760 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Large sized, cold growing terrestrial with more or less robust, glabrous below, densely glandular pubescent above stems enveloped by several large tubular, acute sheaths and carrying mostly basal to sub basal, rosulate, oblong-lanceolate to elliptic-oblanceolate, acute to short-acuminate, gradually elongating petiolate base lower leaves and sessile, mostly bract-like upper leaves that blooms in the spring on a terminal, subdense to dense, to 9.4 [23 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with triangular to ovate-lanceolate, acute, puberulent to villose, floral bracts that are slightly shorter than the flowers.
