Maxillaria acicularis is an orchid species identified by Herb. ex Lindl. in 1837. Culture information and photos for this orchid are commonly detailed under the currently accepted name of Maxillaria subulata.

ORIGIN: Found in southeastern and southern Brazil at elevations up to 2200 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Miniature to small sized, cold to warm growing epiphyte with elongate, ovoid, longitudinally sulcate, slightly laterally compressed pseudobulbs enveloped basally by a few acute sheaths and carrying 2 apical, erect, thin, aciculate, acute leaves that blooms in the late winter and spring on an axilalry, .2 to .4 [.5 to 1 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence carrying a single fragrant flower and needs a slight winter rest.
