For cultivated orchids some trees may be better than slabs for small plants; a list of wild trees with appropriate species for them; refer to A79-792+

Live oak, mango, frangipani, calabash and citrus trees make fine hosts for plants left to grow to large specimen size. F73-31+

Native oak, mahogany, tabebuia and bottlebrush are good; not good are avocado, mango, citrus and other dense-foliage trees. F87-100
