SOW BUGS: In Fir Bark Control by dusting the surface of the pot mix with Sevin dust 5%. A82-1061 0
SOW BUGS: In Plants Under Lights Insects that feed on decaying organic matter do not damage roots, so leave them alone if the roots are all right ; if not, than use a Malathion drench, preferably outside because of the smell. A84-1061 0
SOW BUGS: On Mounts It is claimed that they wreak havoc by eating the fresh root-tips (California); control by spraying with Diazinon or Sevin. A83-614; could be bush snails? RMH 0
SOW BUGS: Or Woodlice Control: they are difficult to eradicate because their coat protects them from contact poisons; they feed on delicate new shoots and seedling growth; use a carbaryl insecticide such as a Sevin dust; trap them in inverted pots filled with hay or straw, or in half potatoes scooped out and laid flat side down on benches; Paris green (handle with caution) and bran at four oz. to one lb. bran spread under the pots.
