Like redwood fiber it decays slower than fir bark and a 20-20-20 fertilizer should be adequate, used at rate of 1 pound to 100 gallons water per month. A84-1180

The medium sized chips might be successful if fertilized with 30-10-10 at ltpg., but better add a pinch of osmunda or coarse peat. A81-1311
