ORIGIN: Found in Bolivia, Parana, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul Statees of Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina in hot lowlands along shady streams, to cooler montane forests at elevations of 100 to 800 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Small sized, cool growing epiphyte with ovoid or ovoid-oblong, deeply sulcate with age pseudobulbs carrying 1 or rarely 2 apical, slightly coriaceous, linear-oblong, acute leaves that blooms in the late winter and early spring on an axillary, often nodding, 9 to 12 [20 to 35 cm] long, few to several [5 to 20] flowered, racemose or rarely paniculate inflorescence with rigid, narrowly triangular, acute floral bracts occurring in the late winter and early spring.
