DESCRIPTION: A slender, small to large sized, warm to cold growing terrestrial similar to Sobralia in plant form, from Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in cold, wind swept, elfin forest at elevations of 600 to 3000 meters with erect stems enveloped by several close, tubular, scarious sheaths with several lanceolate, acuminate, plicate, basally clasping leaves carried toward the apex that blooms in the late spring and summer in cultivation on a 1 [2.5 cm] long, terminal, laxly 4 to 16 flowered inflorescence subtended with lanceolate, acuminate bracts and all the flowers in a conical bunch at the apex of the cane.
