unable to add orchid to my collection

General Discussion

by Richard Whyte

Hi

I tried to add an orchid I have and a photo, didn't figure out how to do either. I was unable to find this orchid useing the find page. I wasn't able to find how to add the name or a photo. Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

How does one add new, as-yet unnamed hybrids? I have an Epidendrum conopseum x melanoporphyreum, not yet registered...

By the way when searching to add your orchid to your collection or searching in general, try one part of the name if you can’t find it under the entire name. For example instead of “Kanchana Lavender Mist Louie” try one term at a time. It seems to be more effective.

Hi, go to the top of the page to the drop down list - choose “Orchids” then choose “Search Orchids”. Enter the name of the orchid (not the genus), for example Why Not and search. You should see choices which include a green button, “add to my plants”. If you have an issue or are unsure of the spelling of the name, only enter a few letters and you will have choices. Let me know if you still have issues.

what if I want to add an unkown orchid to my collection, one I got from a garage sale many years ago and have no idea of its name, but I have a photo and would like to add it anyway

I don’t think that’s allowed. I think it has to be a recognized species or Grex.
