Trichocentrum luridum

General Discussion

by Danny Lyon

I am looking for a Trichocentrum luridum plant or seeds of Trichocentrum luridum.  Does anyone have a dividion for sale or seeds available or know of anywhere to buy these?  Also known as Lophiaris lurida or IOncidium luridum.

I contacted Phillip Hamilton from Bredren Orchids and he said he may have one or two luridums at his nursery. He must be working at a show. You can check with Phillip.

You are correct, the accepted name is Trt luridum. It is from Central and South America. I don’t see that one has received an award since 2015; sometimes I find specific plants that way. And I googled it and did not find one. If you are in the US you could go to the Rare Plant & Orchid Show in Redlands, FL Oct 22, 2023 or the Redlands show next spring. I would guess you might find one from a FL, Jamaica or Central American vendor. I have an inquiry out to a vendor and will let you know what I hear. Carol
