How to add a not-listed plant

General Discussion

by Adrienne Alexander

I have quite a few plants that are either named or whose cross does not come up in the "search" field for "Add to my plants".

Is there a way to make a "custom" entry?

Thank you, Carol Holdren. My list is fairly long, so if you give me a link to Orchid Wiz, I will dig in.

Adrienne, for each orchid not found on your list, go to Google and type "<name of orchid> site:orchids.org". That should make it easier to find them in ORCHIDS.ORG.

It gets a little more complicated. For example, I have quite a few Catt alliance from Fred Clarke (Sunset Valley Orchids). In most cases the orchids are designated by his hybrid number followed by the cultivar name. So, for example, if I wanted to post Lc. Mem. Alberto Wenzel 'SVO' x Sc Beaufort 'Big Circle', the Google search won't help me to find that on orchids.org. Looking forward to your adding that functionality to orchids.org.

Thank you, Admin! Looking forward to your adding that functionality. Most of my Catts and Catt alliance plants aren't listed.

Hi, Carol Holdren, thank you again for your offer. Here's one plant that I can't find -- the Catts can wait! This one is a hybrid that I recently acquired from from Fred Clarke (Sunset Valley Orchids). It's already in spike, and I'm eagerly awaiting its bloom. So if you can find info to help me to add it to my database on this site... it'd be greatly appreciated. Here's the info from Fred's online listings: "SVO 5967 Paph. Hsinying Majakum (Paph. Janet Kunkle 'Green Goddess' x Paph. Maudiae 'Green Giant') The makeup of the parents is: Janet Kunkle (Mem. Allegria Gutierrez x Maudiae) and Maudiae (callosum x lawrenceanum)." Frances, search for Bllra Peggy Ruth Carpenter. You misspelled it. Or simply search for all orchids starting with "Peggy" and you'll find it. Good luck.
