Basionym: Encyclia sect. Euchile Dressler & G.E. Pollard
Phytologia 21(7): 434. 1971.

A genus of two species separated from Encyclia. These two species have been variously assigned to almost all the Cattleya alliance genera over the past century. Now they have settled into their own genus and this does seem to be the best fit.
