- Derivation:
- Plant: epiphytic, to 1m., clustered compressed pseudobulbs (3-5cm.), olbong leaf (to 21cm.)
- Flowers: 1m. erect inflorescence with spectacular 10cm. butterfly orchids opening sequentially, sometimes over a period of years (mine has been blooming since 1992), purple sepals, petal yellow with red-brown markings, yellow lip margin and spotted with red-brown
- Bloomtimes:
- Habitat: lower montane forests
- Comments: closely related to Psychopsis krameriana
Distribution Range: Trinidad, Venezuela, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil
